CORE EXPERTISE / Dams and Hydro Mechanical equipment

Dams have always played an important role in harnessing Iran's precious water reserves, and the long-term objective of Iran's water resources development plan is based on the control and regulation of water resources through dams.

The construction of dams is essential for an arid country like Iran, so water can be stored to assure the availability of a reliable supply to satisfy domestic, industrial and agricultural requirements, control floods and generate hydroelectricity.

Among all the above mentioned water needs, agriculture is one of the main priorities in the national development plans in Iran and almost has the most consumption of water in comparison with other sectors.

There are almost 118 important rivers and 85 storage dams in Iran, which are regulating 32 billion m³ of water in the country. These dams are mostly located in north, west and south west of country.

Dams in operation
(Total Capacity: 25 Billion m³, Regulating Volume 32.9 Billion m³)

There are also 82 dams under construction and 230 currently under design process.

Dams under Construction
(Total Capacity: 30 Billion m³, Regulating Volume 18.1 Billion m³)

Narvan Arra pioneers the utilization of the most up to date and advanced technology from the Western European design, engineering and consultancy companies, and has completed many feasibility studies for dams and hydroelectric power plants as well as design and engineering of major hydromechanical equipment for dams.

Based on the requirements of the project, we have formed consortiums of foreign design and engineering companies with local steel structure manufacturers, such as Sadid Industrial Group, Neyrperse, Machine Sazi Arak, etc. to be able to provide turn key solutions.

Below are some of the major projects we have undertaken in this field. For further references and specific information on each project please refer to the project data sheets through the links below:
