Abstract

Potential gross national water available for overall development is decreasing due to population increase. It was 7000 cubic meter per head per year about 40 years ago and when the population reaches 100 million it will be 1300. Considering the potential pollution due to different kind of sewage and use of water without conservative resources it will be around 1000 cubic meter per head per year. So the country is facing shortage of water for development. Consequently we have to develop the programs of water reuse and desalination of brackish and sea water. The book is about the status of the technology in Iran and the world and has chapters as follows:

1.      Water Available in Iran
2.      Water Reuse
3.      Desalination Situation in the World
4.      Desalination Technology (Thermal, Membrane, CHP)
5.      Environmental Impacts of Desalination Plants
6.      Desalination Feasibility Studies
7.      Public Private Partnership (PPP) in Desalination Plants
8.      Economical Aspects in Desalination projects
9.      Concentrating Solar Power for Seawater Desalination
